Speech & Debate students enjoy Gonzaga tournament

About 300 students from 30 schools participated in a Speech & Debate meet at Gonzaga University January 2 and 3. In editorial commentary, Liberty Bell sophomore Hannah Hogness placed first, freshman Eliza Kammerling-Brown placed second and senior Jacqueline O’Keefe took seventh out of 51 competitors. In oratory, junior Kathleen Chavey-Reynaud placed sixth and Kammerling Brown placed seventh out of 44 competitors. And in debate, Chavey-Reynaud earned recognition as the fourth best speaker among 60 participants.

“It was a great tournament to see top-level talent,” said coach Mark Wenzel. “Teams came from Montana, Idaho and California to compete. Our students did a great job.”
