Advisory class is 30 minutes a day from Monday to Thursday. About 25 students comprise each advisory, with one teacher. The purpose of advisory is:
1. To build community at Liberty Bell by organizing activities that bring students together
2. To provide academic support to students, while helping them monitor their own progress and reach goals
3. To provide time and guidance to students as they prepare for student-led conferences
In 2011-2012, teachers consulted with students at the beginning of the year to make advisory more meaningful. This year, the program will include all-school assemblies led by students and tutoring sessions built into advisory time.
The schedule for 2011-2012 will be:
Mondays/Tuesdays — Advisor check-in with students on grades and assignments; study time
Wednesday — Tutoring available for students missing assignments or in need of extra help; teachers and students will help with tutoring
Thursday — Activity Day
