Tom’s wife, Annie, with their daughter Ingrid
Dear Methow Valley School District Students, Families, and Community Members,
I hope this letter finds each of you relaxed, rested, and enjoying time spent with friends and family during the final days of summer. As you can imagine, Annie, Ingrid, Elliot and I are enjoying time spent exploring new places throughout the Valley and making new friends.
Last weekend, following a day-hike toward Robinson Pass, Annie and I found ourselves resting with our children near the trailhead on a large boulder in Robinson Creek. As we quietly listened to the steady rumble and watched the water as it tumbled around us, Ingrid leaned over and said, “Daddy, I love my new home… This is a magical place.”
Insightful words associated with a place we are now fortunate to call home or simply words spoken by a four year old who was thinking about the popcorn, milk duds, ping-pong ball race, and movie during the previous night’s Celestial Cinema? I can’t be certain… what I can say is that it captures how we think and feel at present. This truly is a magical place filled with people that share a strong sense of place, a deep appreciation for its many qualities and a community of people that care deeply for one another.
I look forward to hearing your stories and want to make you aware of an upcoming opportunity for us to meet one another. On Thursday, August 29th an Ice Cream Social will take place at 4:30 located at Liberty Bell Jr-Sr High School and 5:30 located at Methow Valley Elementary School. I hope to see you there!
Sincerely,
Tom Venable
