MVSD Facilities Task Force Public Meeting – Feb 23, 2015

The Methow Valley School District Facilities Task Force, co-chaired by Methow Valley Elementary parents Sarah and Erik Brooks, is made up of more than 20 members consisting of students, parents, staff, and community members.

Building upon the work of the previous Facilities Committee, the newly formed Facilities Task Force, established about a year ago, was charged with the task of developing a proactive approach to identifying and addressing the needs that exist within our facilities. Over the course of the past year, the Task Force has been learning about the physical condition of our facilities, our aging transportation fleet, educational technologies, how they are funded, and the process associated with voter approved bond and levy measures.

Their job is to present the superintendent with a prioritized facilities plan with a recommended funding mechanism (Bond or Levy) to be put before the voters in the spring of 2015. They have project ideas contained in the attached brochure that they’re ready to share… now they’d like to hear from you!

Facilities Task Force Public Meeting at Methow Valley Elementary Library
Monday, February 23 – 6:00 – 7:00 pm

During the Facilities Task Force Public Meeting, we will have members of the Task Force on hand, ready to share information with you about the process, project ideas, tax rates, timelines, and possible next steps.

During the Public Meeting we’ll ask you to consider sharing your feedback in response to our project ideas using the following four questions:

1. What do you like most about what you learned here today?
2. What are your biggest concerns about the district’s facilities needs
3. What questions do you still have?
4. Is there any other feedback you’d like to share with us today?

The goal is to provide a recommendation to the superintendent and school board that reflects a smart investment of our community’s resources. Please stop by for a few minutes or as long as you’d like to learn more about the project ideas that have emerged and share your thoughts.

Unable to attend? We encourage you to review Facilities Planning Task Force 2.0 – Report to the Community [pdf] and submit your feedback online no later than Friday, February 27th.
