Honoring Excellence…Congratulations Stacey Cooley and Jennifer Simmons, MVSD’s 2017 Excellence Awards Recipients!

Each year, school district employees across the North Central region of Washington State are encouraged to submit the names of colleagues (one certificated employee and one classified employee) they believe represent excellence in public education.

This year, the Methow Valley School District received more submissions than ever, each highlighting the exceptional dedication, commitment, and service throughout our schools in support of students and families. However, two names rose to the top…
Stacey Cooley - MVES SecretaryStacey Cooley – MVES Secretary
Only two years into her tenure as a member of the MVES office staff, students, parents, and staff state that Stacey has done an outstanding job of embracing her position as the Elementary Secretary. She takes her job seriously, working collaboratively with staff, students, parents, community members, and administration to solve problems in support of the students we serve.

One staff member captured it well when she stated, “She is a great gift to all of us! Stacey truly deserves this Excellence Award. She is such a hard worker and her cheerful presence makes everyone feel welcome when they walk into the elementary school. Students, staff and parents know they can count on Stacey to do her best to help with anything they need. I can’t imagine where we would be without her.”
Jennifer Simmons - MVES Special Education TeacherJennifer Simmons – MVES Special Education Teacher
As a member of the Methow Valley School District’s Special Education team, Jennifer Simmons works collaboratively with students, staff, and parents to ensure every student is able to fulfill their potential and graduate prepared to pursue a wide range of postsecondary options.

When asked why they nominated Jennifer for the Excellence Awards, one staff member stated, “Jennifer embodies the essence of positivity and a love for teaching. Her kind heart and hard-working demeanor have changed how our team works together especially in support of the students we serve. She continues to make me want to be better every day… She inspires me to become better.”
