Using the feedback provided by students, staff, parents, and community members, the Methow Valley Calendar Committee submitted a proposed 2018-19 MVSD Calendar to the superintendent and school board for final approval at the regular board meeting that took place on Wednesday, March 28, 2018.
In advance of voting, members of the school board acknowledged the many complexities associated with the establishment of a school calendar. Knowing there isn’t a perfect calendar that pleases everyone, they expressed appreciation for the:
- transparent and inclusive process,
- focus on preserving large blocks of uninterrupted learning time,
- and the committee’s focus on developing a calendar that supports increased levels of “Family and Community Engagement,” one of the district’s Six Strategic Areas of Focus.
It received unanimous support and final approval from the school board.
