MVSD Launches Integration Media Specialist Position

Student using a laptopUsing the feedback obtained through the Budget and Staffing Development Process, coupled with research and best practices associated with school libraries and student learning, the MVSD is launching a search and selection process for the district’s Integration Media Specialist (IMS).

The technology levy funded position titled Integration Media Specialist (IMS) will work collaboratively with classroom teachers within the MVES Library/Media Center and classrooms to support the development of students who graduate possessing the critical thinking, research, communication, and self-management skills necessary to pursue the widest range of college, career, and life opportunities possible.

In addition to his or her work with classroom teachers and students, the IMS will be working as a member of a district-wide team that aspires to implement a clear and cohesive vision for our district’s library/media centers and “maker spaces” to support student learning at the highest levels possible.

What is a Maker Space? Well, here’s a link from one of the movers and shakers in Technology & Library Media Design, Jennifer Gonzales, Cult of Pedagogy that might serve as a useful resource – https://www.cultofpedagogy.com/makerspace/

Thank you, Methow Valley, for your generosity and continued support of our students!
