Sow it. Grow it. Eat it. Know it…

Classroom in Bloom MarketMonday, the MVSD Food Services team, Classroom in Bloom staff and board, a team of parent volunteers, and our own MVES 4th and 6th grade students hosted this fall’s Local Lunch and Farmer’s Market.

Participants were treated to a locally sourced meal that included hamburgers using beef raised in Washington, potatoes, beets, onions, carrots, cabbage, pluots, and microgreens harvested from the Classroom in Bloom garden and local farms, and hamburger buns made using ancient grains from Bluebird Farms.

In addition to enjoying a tasty, nutritious, healthy meal, 4th and 6th grade students raised nearly $800.00 from the sales of the produce and compost they created through their participation in Classroom in Bloom!

Students will be working with Classroom in Bloom staff to determine how the money raised will be spent in support of the program and those who it serves.

Please join us as we express our sincere gratitude and appreciation to our exceptional Food Services team, the Classroom in Bloom staff, board, and parent volunteers, our many local farmers, and our students!
