“Online learning needs to remain an option for some of our students.” This was a statement provided by a parent in the Reopen MVSD Schools survey.
While there is much to make sense of in advance of the beginning of the school year, one thing is clear, in the wake of uncertainty parents want options – including a structured online learning program. More specifically, they want a high quality online learning program that is aligned to classroom instruction whether it is in a hybrid model or used in a 100% remote learning setting. This would provide students, parents, and staff with flexible options and if needed, a seamless transition in the event of a full school closure.
Equipped with this information, the MVSD will be meeting with representatives from a variety of OSPI approved online learning providers. We will be exploring the possibility of establishing a partnership with an online provider that creates structure, clarity, flexibility, and consistency for students, parents, and staff and provides staff and parent training, and ongoing technical support.
We look forward to sharing what we learn!
