Working within a shared mission, to support the health and wellness of the community it serves, the MVSD and Family Health Centers (FHC) has established a partnership focused on providing students and families with increased access to a broad range of healthcare-related services.
When asked to characterize what a partnership between FHC and the MVSD represents, Family Health Centers CEO, Jesus Hernandez stated, “We are committed to establishing a long-standing partnership with the Methow Valley School District that ensures all students have access to important healthcare related services that support their success in schools and in life.”
MVSD Superintendent, Tom Venable added, “The establishment of this partnership couldn’t happen at a better time. We have many students and families who are struggling. They have been deeply impacted by the past and recent events that have unfolded within our community. Being able to provide students and families with access to affordable, high quality healthcare-related services is essential in support of their physical, social-emotional, and academic development.”
First Course of Action
As with every successful partnership, effective coordination and communication are essential components. As such, the first course of action that has been agreed upon by the MVSD and FHC will be to jointly co-fund a full-time school nurse position. MVSD School Nurse, Adriana Vanbianchi will expand her hours of service from three days per week to five days per week beginning this fall and continuing throughout the course of the school year.
