Dear Methow Valley Students, Parents, and Community Members,
The MVSD Board of Directors unanimously approved the proposed changes to the MVSD 2020-21 School Calendar. Working in partnership with MVEA and PSE representatives, the updated calendar will enable the MVSD to:
- Work with Okanogan County Public Health Officials to make an informed decision using the best available information regarding the reopening of our schools.
- Train “all” staff in the COVID-19 Procedures intended to keep us safe.
- Ensure “all” staff have the time needed to fully prepare for the upcoming school year.
- Assist students and parents as they return to school in whatever form this may take for each family.
Key changes associated with the updated school calendar include:
- Start date of Tuesday, September 8th for all students in grades 1-12.
- Start date of Monday, September 14th for Kindergarten students.
- Three Professional Development Days scheduled to occur on Friday, October 30th, Friday, January 22nd, and Friday, March 26th. Distance Learning for all students on these days.
- No changes to graduation (Friday, June 4th) or the last day of school (Friday, June 11th).
Sincerely,
Tom Venable
Superintendent, Methow Valley School District
