MVSD Continues to Provide Free Meals to All Youth

The MVSD will continue to provide free meals (breakfast and lunch) to all youth, ages 0-18, free of charge through December, 2020.

Similar to last spring, the MVSD will deliver “grab-and-go” meals to bus stops during their morning routes, Monday through Friday (with the exception of holidays). On Wednesdays, between 12:00 – 1:00 pm, “grab-and-go” meals will also be distributed at three drop zones located at the Winthrop Red Barn, TwispWorks, and the Carlton Fire Station.

New this year, students who will be participating in Option A: Hybrid Model will receive their meals, grab-and-go style, at school on the days they attend school. Weather dependent, they will eat their meals outside.

Some anticipated questions include:

So, any child ages 0-18 can receive a free “grab-and-go” meal at school or at home?
Yes. We will make “grab-and-go” meals available to all youth, ages 0 to 18, whether they are at school or at home.

What if my child doesn’t attend a MVSD school? Can they receive a free “grab-and-go” meal?
Yes. If they are between the ages of 0 and 18, they can pick up a grab-and-go meal at any one of our regular am bus stops and/or at one of the Wednesday afternoon drop zones.

Will Friday Food Bags continue to be available? Yes. For families of students who are in need of meals during the weekend, the MVSD will be working in partnership to package and distribute Friday Food Bags each week.

How do I sign up for a Friday Food Bag? Please contact Stacey Cooley, MVE Secretary at: scooley@methow.org or Debbie Bair, LBHS at: dbair@methow.org. For planning purposes, we ask that you do so no later than Friday, September 4th.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

Sincerely,

Tom Venable
Superintendent, Methow Valley School District
