MVSD Tutor Drive Set to Take Place Wednesday, October 7th

Community Member Tutoring LB StudentThe MVSD is actively recruiting individuals who want to make a positive impact upon the lives of our youth by serving as a tutor to MVSD students in grades 7-12. As such, we’d like to invite you to attend the first annual “MVSD Tutor Drive.”

The event is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, October 7th, from 12-3 PM. Participants will meet outside the high school in a designated tent and then split up from there, weather permitting.?

What can I expect if I choose to attend?

The MVSD Tutor Drive is designed to provide potential tutors with information about the role and responsibilities of a tutor, share examples of a typical tutoring session, provide aspiring tutors with a chance to meet with some of our students, and ask any questions participants may have about tutoring services.

Why should I consider being a tutor?

This is a common question. In fact, one person who has been serving as a tutor and a community-based mentor for the past four years once said, “Why should I tutor? I had a hard enough time supporting my own children’s learning when they were in school. What do I have to offer?”

After several weeks of tutoring, the same person said, “I’m hooked! I look forward to my time spent supporting the students I work with every week. It feels good to know I’m making a difference in the lives of our students, helping them to see what they can’t always see in themselves.”

Please Join Us!

With the new school year looking substantially different from previous years, we anticipate many of our students will need tutoring in some form, both in-person and remotely.

Please plan on joining us at Liberty Bell Jr./Sr. High School on October 7th, between 12:00 and 3:00 p.m. If you have any further questions, please contact Liam Daily, MVSD Tutoring Coordinator with any questions at ldaily@methow.org.
