MVSD/PSFA Sponsored Learning Pod Fall Festival a Hit with MVE Students

On Wednesday, October 28th, 2020, with the help of the Winthrop Kiwanis Club, Classroom in Bloom, local jugglers, Methow Arts, Methow Valley Riding Unlimited, and The Bush School, the Methow Valley School District (MVSD) and Public School Funding Alliance (PSFA) hosted the first ever district-sponsored Learning Pod Fall Festival.

Serving as a culminating activity and celebration, the MVSD/PSFA Sponsored Learning Pod Fall Festival provided participating students with an opportunity to rotate from station to station, engaging in a variety of outdoor activities that included: cider pressing, cooking stick bread over a campfire, relay races, painting a big art mural, a juggling show, and a special visit from some of the MVRU horses!

We are currently in the process of developing the MVSD/PSFA Sponsored Winter Learning Pod Series. Tentatively scheduled to take place in December through the end of January, the activities (some indoors, some outdoors) will continue to blend of academic support, art/science projects, and active time, with small groups of students led by community advisors. Do you have thoughts or ideas about possible activities that can be safely facilitated with small groups of elementary-age students?

We welcome your comments and suggestions as we plan for the next round of Learning Pods. Please send your ideas to MVSD Family and Community Engagement Coordinator, Katharine Bill at: kbill@methow.org.

How do I sign my elementary-age student up for the Winter Learning Pod Series?
More information about the MVSD/PSFA Sponsored Winter Learning Pod Series and registration information will be distributed in early-to-mid November.
