Remembering a Longtime Friend of the Methow Valley School District… Carl Miller

Carl & Roxie Miller

On behalf of the Methow Valley School District Board of Directors, administrative team, and staff, we are deeply saddened to have learned about Carl Miller’s death this past weekend.

A member and supporter of many organizations, including the Shafer Museum and Winthrop Kiwanis Club, Carl was a true legend, leaving a behind a legacy signified by his unparalleled commitment to service. His efforts to promote the preservation of our community’s history through education and tireless advocacy in support of all youth, particularly those faced with significant challenges were just a couple of many contributions he made in support of our schools and community.

When asked about Carl, Superintendent Venable stated, “When I think of Carl, having had the good fortune to sit by him every Tuesday morning at Kiwanis for the last several years, I’m reminded of the many stories he shared with me – mostly of getting in trouble with his brother (It was always his brother’s fault…) at school. Beyond the stories, I will remember a person that all of us can aspire to emulate… A selfless, giving person characterized by high integrity, honesty, empathy, humor, humility, and kindness.”

Our thoughts go out to Roxie, the Miller family, and all that were fortunate to know him. We will miss Carl dearly, but are comforted knowing his legacy will live on.
