After 33 years of exceptional service as a beloved educational support professional for schools both Canada and the United States, Kathy Pasley has announced her decision to retire.
During the past eight years, Kathy has served as a substitute and paraeducator in all three schools – Liberty Bell, MVE, and the ILC. Following her announcement, ILC Principal, Sara Mounsey stated, “Kathy’s 33 years of service are a reflection of her dedication and commitment to serving the unique needs of all students. She honors every student for who they are and wish to be. Kathy has been inspiring young people with her enthusiastic, kind energy and love of laughter. Our students love her. She will be missed…”
When we asked Kathy about her time working at ILC she stated, “I wanted to be here because this work is close to my own heart. Struggling in traditional settings myself as a young person, I wished there had been something remotely close to the Big Picture program. The philosophy of learning in the real world through mentorship and community support would have worked well for me. After discovering the ILC existed, I was bound and determined to join the family! At the ILC I was able to create personal connections because of the smaller environment and fewer number of students. I was allowed to express my own creative self and share my passion for art and crafts with the ILC.”
When asked what’s next, Kathy replied, “I plan to remain a part of the MVSD as a substitute. Once I’m able, I’ll be heading to Canada. It’s been a long year since my last visit and I miss my Mom, daughter and son. Working for MVSD has taught me how important community is when it comes to educating our youth in today’s society, especially in our present world situation. I’ll remain grateful to the staff and students of the Methow Valley for allowing me the privilege to be a part of this amazing group.”
Please join us as we thank Kathy Pasley for her exceptional service in support of our youth!
