Moving Parts: MVSD Announces the Selection of Jake Wicken to Serve as MVE’s New Kindergarten Teacher

New MVE teacher Jake Wicken and familyThe Methow Valley School District is pleased to announce that Jake Wicken has been selected to serve as MVE’s new Kindergarten teacher.

With an emphasis on small class sizes and high quality teaching that emphasizes the academic, social-emotional, and physical development of every student, Jake will be joining Julie Haskins and Maggie Wicken. Libby Foley will be joining the 2nd grade team.

Currently, Jake is teaching third grade in Tonasket. Prior to his current position, he completed his Masters in Elementary Education from WGU and student teaching at Methow Valley Elementary. When asked about the opportunity to return to Methow Valley Elementary Jake stated, “I am overjoyed to be joining the MVE team and to work in the community that I absolutely love. I can’t wait to continue developing myself as an educator here and do my best to help every student be successful.”

When asked how he chooses to spend his time when he’s not in the classroom, Jake replied, “Erin and I have a daughter, Briar, who is four years-old — we love the outdoors, strategy board games, wildlife watching and gardening.”
