Spectators & Fall Sports

2021 Jr High Cross Country TeamIt is great to be kicking another season of fall sports. Not only are we starting on the normal timeline, we have returned to schedules built around league play, with playoffs or culminating events for all sports. This should be a great year, and we ask for the support of fans, players and families in helping to keep our communities safe and our teams out there competing on the field, court, and trail.

In the interest of eliminating any barriers for fans, we will not be charging admission at any regular season home contests for this school year. However, as always, we ask that spectators demonstrate great sportsmanship and comply with rules and expectations for our facilities. This will include wearing masks at all indoor sporting events. This rule, which is part of the DOH guidelines for K-12 athletics in Washington State [pdf], will be enforced here at Liberty Bell and around the league. In fact, the Central Washington B League (CWB) recently passed, with unanimous approval, a resolution that will allow for contests to be stopped if fans are refusing to wear masks, with a forfeit assessed to the school whose supporters refuse to adhere to rules.

I’ve included FAQs below to address questions that may remain.

Spectators & Fall Sports FAQs

Q: Will visiting fans be allowed?
A: At the current time, visiting spectators will be allowed, both at Liberty Bell and at all other schools in our league. Respectful cooperation, at home and on the road, will be essential in making it possible to continue to allow visiting spectators throughout the entire fall season and the rest of the year.

Q: Will masks be required for fans watching outdoor sports?
A: Masks are required for indoor venues only, but we understand that some fans will feel more comfortable, particularly while in larger crowds, wearing masks.

Q: Are there other rules or requirements for fans attending events?
A: Fans will be asked to sit in “family units” with three or more feet of space between such groups, both inside and out.

Q: How will fans eat while wearing masks?
A: Food will not be allowed at indoor venues, but there will be outdoor spaces designated for fans to eat at Liberty Bell and most of our host schools.

Q: Are masks required for players, coaches, and officials?
A: Masks will not be required for players, coaches or officials in outdoor sports. Players actively participating in indoor sports do not have to wear masks, nor do officials working indoors provided they are vaccinated or participate in screening. Coaches, support personnel, and athletes not not actively participating in the game are required to wear masks while indoors.

Q: Is live streaming available?
A: Live streams will be available for all indoor home Liberty Bell events, and most of our competitors will be streaming varsity events as well.
