MVSD Hosts 2021 Washington Student Cycling League Finale

On Sunday, September 26th, the MVSD, working in partnership with the Methow Valley Cycling Team, Evergreen Mtn. Bike Alliance, Methow Cycle and Sport, Tamarack Trail Builders, and Methow Valley Nordic hosted the 2021 Washington Student Cycling racing finale on the MVSD Multipurpose Trail. It is believed to be the first sanctioned mountain biking event to have taken on a school campus nationwide!

Student mountain bike racing final at MVSD trailsDuring the event, over 200 participants ranging from 6th – 12th grade, including eleven MVSD students pushed their riding skills and fitness levels to the limit, ripping up, down, and around the newly constructed 4.3 mile trail, not once, but three times.

As mentioned previously, when asked about the opportunity to host a race on the newly constructed course, a member of the Methow Valley Cycling Team coaching staff stated, “Riders will love it! It’s fast and flowy… Methow style.” Another added, “Spectators will love it as well. The course is very spectator friendly and should provide a good show… We hope everyone who loves mountain biking and kids comes out to see the racing on Sunday.” As a spectator, I can say that it didn’t disappoint…
