MVSD Expands Facilities in Support of Middle School Model

MVSD's New Middle School BuildingDear Methow Valley Students, Staff, Parents and Community Members,

It has arrived! In spite of the delays caused by the fires and pandemic-related supply chain issues, the MVSD is pleased to announce that it is nearing the completion of the site preparation and installation of a new modular facility, supporting the district’s development of a “middle school model”.

Upon its arrival yesterday, one middle school student stopped, looked at me, and said, “Alright! Way to go Methow Valley School District… This is alright!”

The new modular facility, future home of LBHS 6th grade staff and students, contains two classrooms, two bathrooms, sinks, an adjoining door, lots of natural light, and new furnishings.

There’s work to be done… Following the installation of an ADA-accessible, covered ramp and a paved walking path, we’ll be working with our 6th grade staff and students in support of their successful transition into their new classrooms.

Our work doesn’t stop there… Once moved in, we’ll begin the work of involving our middle school staff and students in the design of the outdoor space.

Looking forward… The second modular facility, intended to provide the space necessary to accommodate growth in enrollment, is scheduled to be installed prior to the beginning of the 2022 school year.

While there is work that remains, I’ll conclude this letter by thanking our many local contractors who have made this project their first priority and our 6th grade staff, students, and parents for their display of grace and patience throughout this process.

Sincerely,

Tom Venable
Superintendent, MVSD
