MVSD Adopts Two Year School Calendar

Dear Methow Valley Students, Parents, and Community Members,

On behalf of the Methow Valley School District Calendar Committee, I’m pleased to announce that the MVSD School Board has unanimously approved the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 school district calendars.

Two Year District Calendar 2022-2023 & 2023-2024The newly established two-year calendar cycle prioritizes student academic, physical, and social-emotional wellness. When asked about the process, LBHS Principal and Committee Chair stated, “The newly adopted school calendars are the result of a collaborative process, during which the committee sought feedback from a multitude of stakeholders.”

After reviewing survey responses provided by over 270 MVSD families, the committee recommended that Wednesday’s early releases be pushed back to 1:30 pm. This extra hour of student learning equates to nearly six additional instructional days over the course of the school year. Additionally, the early releases during conference weeks have been adjusted to better maximize teaching and learning opportunities.”

The School Board approved the two-year calendar under the following conditions:

  • All stakeholders will be invited to provide feedback on mid-winter break and early release during the winter of 2023.
  • Early release schedules will be reviewed annually with the potential for modification.
  • If a delayed start were necessary on an early release day, the school day would be extended to a full day (conditions permitting) in order to prevent the cancellation of the school day, reducing disruption for all key stakeholders.
