“Mountain Lions of the Month” for March

Each month Liberty Bell teachers nominate JH and HS students for Mountain Lions of the Month. Students are nominated based on our 10 MVSD Learner Outcomes.

Winners receive a collective learner profile sticker and a gift card for a drink of their choice at either Katie’s Pony Espresso or Blue Star Coffee Roasters. Congratulations to this month’s amazing group of students!

And your March Mountain Lions of the Month are…

MARCH

Balanced…

• WYATT ALBRIGHT’S (HS) ability to balance her school work, social life, and not miss a hockey practice is impressive.

• EMMET BONDI (MS) balances school work with the rigors of cross country ski competition.

Caring…

• LUCIEN PAZ (HS) A student said this about Lucien: “He helped Yolo Paz with a project in Humanities.”.

• COOPER BUZZARD (MS) frequently tries to help people with their work, consistently working hard and contributing positively to our Outdoor Rec class. He is regularly seen putting up more than his fair share of chairs at the end of class. He work hard to help his group with projects in the snow. Thanks Cooper!

Communicator…

• LUCIA SUNDT (HS) turned in a math project that was exceptionally thoughtful, creative, and funny. Her personality comes through in her work, which demonstrates a thorough understanding of the math content and excellent discipline-specific communication skills.

• TAYAH SALAS (MS) A student said this about Tayah: “She is so good at starting conversations and makes you want to talk more. She listens so well.”

Courageous…

• RIO LOTT (HS) read her Social Justice poet out loud for a celebration for William Stafford that Cindy Guetteriez organized. She did an outstanding job.

• PHOENIX/LILLIAN SUPER (MS) A student said this about Phoenix: “I would like to nominate them because they stand up for what they are and what they believe in no matter what anyone else thinks.”

Inquirer…

• HEIDI DEVLIEG (HS) initiated a school-wide survey to collect suggestions for the cafe name, analyzed the resulting data, presented the results to the class, and pitched the winning name to the top brass for final approval. She did all of this without prompting or support.

• JOSIE BOLINGER (MS) has lots of very interesting and creative ideas for her science project.

Knowledgeable…

• ALEX ESLAVA (HS) has been showing how much he knows in recent knowledge bowl practice and competitions. I have watched him firsthand apply what he has learned in classes to the questions he faces during competitions.

• ELSA GUTZLER (MS) has demonstrated the trait of Knowledgeable exceptionally well in the past few weeks as she has put together a History Exhibition on the Songhai Empire. She has worked very well with her group members to put together a comprehensive exhibit including 3D artifacts, written components, and a timeline.

Open Minded…

• CONNOR ARNDT (HS) joined the Yoga class during second semester after the class had already been going on for a full semester. I have been impressed with Connor’s open-mindedness for the class – he tries all of the yoga poses and participates in every class with energy and a positive attitude.

• JACKSON VAN BUEREN (MS) is always seeking out new experiences that will broaden his learning.

Principled…

• JOHN CHAVEZ HERNANDEZ (HS) was an excellent role model in hard work and determination when taking the WIDA test. He advocated for himself and was a model student.

• NICHOLAS LEON (MS) demonstrates his strong work ethic in Foods everyday by approaching any task assigned with focus and integrity.

Reflective…

• BRODI BARBER (HS) is very reflective; he always asks follow-up questions about assignments and lessons. Brodi spends extra time reviewing his work and reflecting upon the best way to compete an assignment. Brodi also has a magical smile.

• LIAM KIEFER (MS) continuously expresses the ability to reflect on his experiences and learning during the course of the school year.

Thinker…

• RAIFF REICHERT (HS) has been asking great questions in math class to further his understanding.

• SOPHIA BARAIBAR (MS) has really been thinking carefully about chemistry in science class, guiding her own learning of how to read the periodic table and balance chemical equations.
