On Sunday, May 15, the MVSD campus served as the host site for the third race in the four-part Washington Student Cycling League Race Series – The Sidewinder Classic.
During the event, hundreds of participants from around the State of Washington, including members of the Methow Valley Cycling Team, pushed their riding skills and fitness levels to the limit, ripping up, down, and around the newly constructed 4.5 mile trail multiple times.
In spite of the unseasonably cool temps and rain, participants and spectators alike celebrated the opportunity to engage in what they love on what is quickly becoming a premier race and training trail. One rider stated, “Can you imagine, having a trail on your school campus. I think I’m in love!”
For those who are unfamiliar with the Washington Student Cycling League, the spring cycling season typically begins in April of 2022 with four races taking place in various locations around the state. Committed to accommodating all participants regardless of experience, skill level, or those in need of a bike, the team trains 3-4 days per week prior to and during the two-month season.
Please join us as we congratulate the Methow Valley Cycling Team, their coaches, and the many organizations and individuals working behind the scene to make it possible!
