MVSD Selects Amy Fitkin to Serve as JH/HS Science and Outdoor Education Teacher for the 2022-23 School Year

Amy FitkinThe MVSD is pleased to announce the selection of Amy Fitkin to serve as a JH/HS Science and Outdoor Education teacher for the 2022-23 school year. Amy will be filling Genny Rice’s teaching position during the first semester and Cam Alford’s teaching position during the second semester.

Amy grew up in Winthrop, Washington and subsequently graduated from Liberty Bell High School. After leaving the Valley she obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from The University of San Diego and went on to receive a Master of Education degree in Environmental Education from Western Washington University.

Over the years, Amy has explored living all over the country, however she has always found herself drawn back to the west coast working in the wildlife, biotechnology, and education fields. Her passion for education is what inspired her the most and she most recently has been working as an Outdoor Mentor for an environmental youth program.

When asked about her new position, Amy stated that she is thrilled to be settling back in the Methow Valley and to be joining the talented teaching staff at Liberty Bell. Further, she is excited to rejoin the community she previously called home and do her part by serving and families.

When not in the classroom, Amy can be found mountain biking, hiking, kayaking and skiing with her friends and family, as well as planning travel adventures to check off the bucket list. She is excited for her return to the Methow and is looking forward to integrating back into the community and making new connections.

Please join us as we welcome Amy Fitkin!
