MVSD Selects Ben Lewis to Serve as New Middle School Humanities Teacher

Ben Lewis & FamilyWith an emphasis on lowering middle school class sizes, expanding elective course offerings, and improving the quality of writing instruction, the MVSD is pleased to announce the selection of Ben Lewis to serve as the new middle school humanities teacher.

Ben received his B.A. in Humanities from Washington State University in 2004. In 2018, he began working for the Quincy School District as a Big Picture Learning (BPL) advisor and history teacher at the Quincy Innovation Academy (QIA) in 2019.

At QIA, Ben developed “Leaving to Learn” opportunities for students. The Leaving to Learn program focuses on outdoor education, internships, and local community volunteerism involving BPL students. While serving as a QIA Advisor, Ben also completed his Masters in Education from Grand Canyon University.

Prior to working for the Quincy School District, Ben and his family lived in Bellingham, Washington where he served as the Volunteer and Internship Training Coordinator, as well as, the Operations Manager of the RE Store, a program of RE Sources for Sustainable Communities, a local environmental nonprofit.

When Ben isn’t in the classroom, he and his family love to bike, hike, kayak, garden, and fish.
