LB Clubs & Activities

Mountain Lion MascotWe are thrilled to offer a range of clubs and activities designed for students in grades 7-12, offered free of charge, thanks to funding support from the Public School Funding Alliance.

Led by knowledgeable and conscientious community members, these high interest clubs will provide LBHS and ILC students with opportunities to try new activities or refine existing skills, all in a safe, supportive, and fun environment.

Whether inside or out, these clubs will be conducted with the importance of social distancing firmly in mind in order to keep all participants safe and protect our community.

  • With the exception of Wednesday clubs, all activities will start at 3:30 p.m. and wrap-up around 5:00 p.m.
  • Bus service is available to Winthrop (Red Barn) and Twisp (Community Center). This bus arrives in Winthrop at approximately 5:15 p.m. and in Twisp at approximately 5:25 p.m.
  • Attendance is not mandatory on all days each club is being offered; please indicate your desired days of attendance when you register and remain in regular communication with your club advisor regarding your ability to participate.

Mountain Lion Club Descriptions

• DISC GOLF CLUB (Mondays & Fridays, April 16th – June 11th)
Learn the fundamentals of disc golf on our new course with Phil Quevillon. Meet in the West Parking Lot near LBHS Disc Golf Course.

• GAMES CLUB (Mondays, April 12th – TBD)
Create a character and have fun with Dungeons and Dragons. You’ll create a story with the help of an eight-sided die and a skilled dungeon master. Watch out for orcs! Meetings held in the LBHS library.

• MOUNTAIN BIKING CLUB (Tuesdays/Wednesdays/Thursdays, Starts April 13)
Mountain Biking Club is back! The spring club will have some differences from last fall’s Mountain Bike club in some key areas. While last fall’s only focus was to get out and ride with our friends, the spring club will have a training focus. There will be outside opportunities to get out and try your skills at some races. Racing is not a requirement, however, and anyone interested in joining the team for regular rides is welcome.  We will hold training practices three days a week as we did in the fall. We will split up based on abilities with coaches that will help you improve your skills. Some sessions will likely involve trips to nearby trails, but most sessions will be held right on the MVSD campus. Meet in the LBHS West Partking Lot.

• SELF DEFENSE CLUB (Thursdays, April 29th – June 3rd)
Train to build your fitness and strength. You’ll learn the basics of stance, guard and how to throw a meaningful punch. Meet at MVE.
