International Club Members Explore China

International Club China Trip 2017

All people are connected by a shared humanity and all decisions are made with a global perspective.

With an interest in immersing themselves in the diverse cultures, histories, traditions and languages associated with another country, several members of the ASB-sponsored International Club are currently traveling throughout different parts of China. In addition to exploring the cultures, histories, traditions, and languages, participating students will participate in a service project, displaying their commitment to service and desire to make a positive difference in the lives of others elsewhere.

Upon their return, participating students will be facilitating an exhibition of their learning with interested community members (on a date to be determined). By sharing their experiences with members of our community, the International Club hopes to promote a better understanding of global issues needing attention and consider how we might initiate action in support of others.

In an effort to ensure all International Club members who wish to participate are able to do so, the club has initiated a group, “fund-earning” approach in place of individual fundraising. Taking the place of the traditional individual, fundraising approach, the intent is to promote collaborative, student-initiated, fund-earning activities that support their community and eliminate the barriers faced by students who may be otherwise disadvantaged when asked to individually fundraise, resulting in their inability to participate.

On behalf of the LBHS ASB, “xiexie” or thank you Methow Valley for supporting our sense of wonderment and curiosity about the world, how it works, and how we can make it better!
