Dear Methow Valley School District Students, Parents, and Community Members,
As the school year draws to a close, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to each of you for your unparalleled commitment and tireless support of our schools.
As described by our student speakers during last week's graduation ceremony, it has been your continued collaboration and partnership in support of our students, staff, and schools that has elevated each and every student, providing them with the opportunity to achieve their full potential. Whether it be in the classroom, on the stage, in the community, and on the courts, observing their success has been truly inspiring, bringing joy to our hearts, love to our lives, and hope for the future.
Budget Development Process Update: As previously communicated, in the wake of the state's shortfall, the MVSD, along with the majority of school districts across the state of Washington will be making reductions in planned expenditures. As such, our administrative team has been working diligently to identify a path forward that promotes a balanced budget while preserving our students' educational experience. This includes, but is not limited to:
• Preservation of the broad range of pathways, educational programming, and related course offerings
• Maintaining high quality teaching and learning opportunities for all students, all day, every day, in every classroom
• Continued implementation of proven instructional practices
• Maintaining smaller class sizes across all grade levels
• Maintaining enriching co-curricular and extra-curricular opportunities, at no cost to students and families
• Maintaining a balanced and sustainable budget
In the coming days, we will provide a more detailed update regarding the 2024-25 MVSD budget priorities, adjustments, and the path forward.
Schoolapalooza: On a related note, you can expect that we'll be sharing information about the Public School Funding Alliance and the lead role they are taking to ensure all students maintain access to the many co-curricular and extracurricular activities that sets our district apart from others, beginning with the first annual Schoolapalooza event: https://cdn.schoolblocks.com/organizations/16f2e64e-3baa-42ee-a695-5cfcee3c0f0b/content_item/70d1d3d9-39a6-4c37-a70d-6db8183431e5/Schoolapalooza.png
