With Gratitude...

Posted: Jun 12, 2024

Dear Methow Valley School District Students, Parents, and Community Members,

As the school year draws to a close, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to each of you for your unparalleled commitment and tireless support of our schools.
As described by our student speakers during last week's graduation ceremony, it has been your continued collaboration and partnership in support of our students, staff, and schools that has elevated each and every student, providing them with the opportunity to achieve their full potential. Whether it be in the classroom, on the stage, in the community, and on the courts, observing their success has been truly inspiring, bringing joy to our hearts, love to our lives, and hope for the future.
Budget Development Process Update: As previously communicated, in the wake of the state's shortfall, the MVSD, along with the majority of school districts across the state of Washington will be making reductions in planned expenditures. As such, our administrative team has been working diligently to identify a path forward that promotes a balanced budget while preserving our students' educational experience. This includes, but is not limited to:
• Preservation of the broad range of pathways, educational programming, and related course offerings

• Maintaining high quality teaching and learning opportunities for all students, all day, every day, in every classroom

• Continued implementation of proven instructional practices

• Maintaining smaller class sizes across all grade levels

• Maintaining enriching co-curricular and extra-curricular opportunities, at no cost to students and families

• Maintaining a balanced and sustainable budget
In the coming days, we will provide a more detailed update regarding the 2024-25 MVSD budget priorities, adjustments, and the path forward.
Schoolapalooza: On a related note, you can expect that we'll be sharing information about the Public School Funding Alliance and the lead role they are taking to ensure all students maintain access to the many co-curricular and extracurricular activities that sets our district apart from others, beginning with the first annual Schoolapalooza event: https://cdn.schoolblocks.com/organizations/16f2e64e-3baa-42ee-a695-5cfcee3c0f0b/content_item/70d1d3d9-39a6-4c37-a70d-6db8183431e5/Schoolapalooza.png
MVSD Summer Hours of Operation: Our school buildings and district office will be operating on the following schedule:

• All MVSD schools will be closed to the public from June 21st to August 16th with school offices reopening on Monday, August 19th.

• All MVSD schools and the District will be closed on June 19th in observance of Juneteenth.

• The MVSD District Office will remain open Tuesday through Thursday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.

• The MVSD District Office will be closed on July 4th in observance of Independence Day.

MVSD School Calendar Update

Posted: Jun 6, 2024

Dear Methow Valley School District Students, Parents, and Community Members,

We are writing to inform you of approved revisions to the 2024-25 and 2025-26 MVSD School Calendars made by the MVSD Board of Directors, as recommended by the MVSD Calendar Committee. 2024-2026 PDF Calendar

Recent updates to the spring athletic season from the Washington Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) have necessitated adjustments to the MVSD 2024-25 and 2025-26 School Calendars. These changes include postponing postseason play by a week, affecting graduation and end-of-the-year activities typically scheduled in the final two weeks of the school year. Consequently, the revisions extend the end of the school year to accommodate the spring athletic regular season and postseason schedule. Additionally, the mid-winter break in February has been reinstated. Links to the updated 2024-25 and 2025-26 MVSD School Links to the updated school calendars can be found below.

Please note, we want to acknowledge the potential impact these changes may have on students, parents, and the community. For this reason, the MVSD Calendar Committee has made these adjustments promptly to provide timely notification. While recognizing that these changes may not be ideal for everyone, they were made after careful consideration by the committee in an effort to minimize disruptions to students' learning experiences, meet the needs of our athletic programs, and maintain the integrity of the academic calendar.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
