**Mental Skills Coaching **
Liberty Bell High School is proud to offer Mental Skills Coaching to all of our student athletes. Whether you play a school sport or participate in athletics through one of our great community organizations, you can work with Sports Psychologist Dr. Alexandra Simmons to develop your mental game. Have more fun playing sports and achieve more success by developing your mental skills!
**What is sports psychology? **
Sport Psychology is the scientific study of 1) the psychological factors of being an athlete/performer, 2) the unique aspects of the sport/performance environment, and 3) uses research and applied experience to best understand and support what an athlete/performer goes through while performing. How can working with Dr. Alexandra Simmons help you be your best?What if you saw pressure or adversity as a challenge that you are capable of tackling? What if you felt calm, prepared, and resilient in any performance situation?By paying attention to what’s going on for you mentally and physically, you can have the confidence to adapt to the task at hand.
A Certified Mental Performance Coach looks at how our thoughts and emotions (mind) impacts how we perform (body) and how the way we perform (body) impacts the way we think and feel. First, I’ll ask you some questions to get an idea of which Mental Skills are working for you and which need some strengthening—Confidence, Motivation, Focus, Energy Management. We’ll figure out which of the mental tools will be the best fit to help you build those skills. These are tools like relaxation, self-talk, imagery, goal setting, and performance routines. As your Mental Skills Coach I’m interested in helping you feel your best every time you step out on the field, court, track, or mat to do the thing you enjoy doing! Figuring out the right combination of Tools and Skills will help you get there.
