Early Childhood Education Steering Committee Charter

The purpose of the group is to:

  • Learn about the most effective ways to provide access to affordable, quality early childhood education for all Methow Valley children;

  • Make recommendations to district leaders about policies regarding Early Childhood Education;

  • Identify common needs and goals among the parents and teachers of children ages 0­5; and

  • Serve as an advisory body that provides thought partnership and contributes to effective problem solving regarding Early Childhood Education in the Methow Valley.

Basis for Establishment:

  • This Committee continues the work started by the Steering Committee for the Early Childhood Education Community Needs Assessment (March 2015).

  • Approach issues with a collaborative, community­-based, partnership approach. Look for opportunities to build common ground, share resources and work together for the best outcome for all MV children.

Responsibilities of Committee Members:

  • Attend meetings.

  • Actively participate in meetings and in thinking about how to provide Early Childhood Education opportunities for the Methow Valley.

  • Approach issues with a collaborative, community­-based, partnership approach. Look for opportunities to build common ground, share resources and work together for the best outcome for all MV children.

Decision­ Making Process:

This group serves in an advisory capacity supporting district efforts for Early Childhood Education.

Budget Implications:

  • Teachers’ time will be compensated.

  • Potential costs associated with special guest speakers.
