Student Health Advisory Committee
Academic success is strongly linked to health. With this in mind the Student Health Action Committee (SHAC) will focus its efforts on helping students engage in protective, health-enhancing behaviors and avoid risk behaviors. With support from families and the community, our ability as a school to have a positive impact on students’ health, behavior, and academic growth is enhanced.
The SHAC council will provide coordination and a framework for 7 standing sub-committees:
- Health & Wellness, Social Services
- Nutrition
- Emergency Preparedness
- Physical Education/Athletics/Activities
- Early Learning
- Community Engagement
SHAC subcommittees are made up of MVSD staff, parents, and community volunteers.
Subcommittee membership for the 25-26 school year is already established. If you are interested in SHAC or participating in future years, please reach out to Annelisa Tornberg (atornberg@methow.org) to share your interest. She will connect you with the appropriate subcommittee chair.
SHAC makes recommendations to the MVSD administration and school board, primarily through end of year reports. This years SHAC report will be presented the school board at the May 21, 2026 meeting.
