Dear Methow Valley Students, Parents, and Community Members,
Welcome to Methow Valley Elementary! My family and I had a great summer getting to know our new home, including hiking up Goat Peak as a family!
As I have spent time in the community and with colleagues this summer preparing for the coming school year I wanted to express how fortunate I feel to serve as your principal. The entire valley, and Methow Valley School District specifically, appears to be a community of people committed to the success of every child. It is the type of community that I look forward to see my own children grow up and develop in.
One of my first initiatives that I’m most excited about is to listen and learn more from you about the school and the community. In addition to meeting with staff and students, I look forward to connecting with parents and the community in support of continued growth and development as a school community. Towards this end, I will be co-hosting, along with Liberty Bell principal Crosby Carpenter and ILC principal Sarah Mounsey three community listening sessions in the month of October. Specifics, including time, date, and location will be published in the month of October.
The listening sessions will culminate in an action plan that will be embedded within our district mission and vision. This action plan will guide our collective work for the coming years. This action plan is truly based on the idea of inquiry; inquiring what our school does well, and what needs more work. It is also a collaborative process, so in addition to participating in these school events, please feel free to reach out and share your thoughts.
Thanks again, and I look forward to meeting everyone and continuing to learn together.
